How this estimate works

2026 annual federal and provincial brackets are applied progressively. The calculation includes basic personal credits, the Canada employment amount, eligible employee-contribution credits, applicable basic provincial low-income reductions, Ontario surtax, the Ontario health premium and LIFT credit. Quebec includes QPP, QPIP, its worker deduction and the federal Quebec abatement.

Enhanced CPP deductions reduce federal taxable income by $927.00. The federal basic personal amount used is $16,452.00; the provincial basic amount is $12,989.00. These are credit amounts, not cash refunds. Quebec also deducts up to $1,450 for workers from provincial taxable income.

CPP/QPP uses the full-year $3,500 exemption, $74,600 first earnings ceiling and $85,000 second ceiling. EI uses $68,900 maximum insurable earnings; Quebec QPIP uses $103,000. Only employee contributions are deducted, not the employer's share.

Assumes a single employee aged 18–64, full-year Canadian residency and employment in one province, with all wages pensionable and insurable. No spouse, dependants, disability, age, pension-income or living-alone credits are claimed. Refundable benefits, Quebec prescription-drug premiums, RRSP/pension contributions, union dues, other income and employer benefit deductions are excluded. Territories and self-employment are not covered.

This is an estimate of annual tax liability and net income, not a payroll withholding service or tax return. Actual paycheques vary as CPP/QPP and EI reach their annual limits; low-income credits may only be received on filing. Highlighted bracket rates exclude the effects of surtaxes, benefit reductions, credit phaseouts and payroll contributions. Rounding can create small differences.
